THE COLD CREEK SERIES

INTRODUCTION TO THE COLD CREEK SERIES

Cold Creek, VA is a fictitious, small town of about 3000 residents (not including the student population) closest to and East of Roanoke and South of Lynchburg. Cold Creek College (also fictitious) was initially a boarding school and catered to the wealthier families. Cold Creek came into existence to support the school. Over time the school morphed into a private four-year college of about 1500 students. As the school expanded, so did the community. More detailed history is provided in the first book in the series MURDER AT COLD CREEK COLLEGE...

The series' protagonist is Sheridan Hendley, a professor and psychologist in the Psychology Department. Bright and curious, she is a natural amateur sleuth. Moreover, she is an advocate for the underdog, or in this series, the obvious suspect. Intended as a cozy mystery series, each book is a mystery that is completed within that book - a stand alone mystery. Relationships and romance, however, continue to evolve with each new book.

MURDER AT COLD CREEK COLLEGE is the first in the series. A dead body is not a good way to start the fall semester for anyone, but especially the victim. Adam Millberg is a womanizer and the suspect list is long. Is infidelity the only motive? Sexual harassment? Sheridan is motivated to prove her best friend's innocence and help the nice looking detective.

"It was a fun romp, well-paced and suspenseful, with just the right amount of humor, romance and intrigue thrown in."

"The story was well-plotted and the twists and turns the story takes make it a very enjoyable read."

In the second in the series, MURDER IN THE ARBORETUM, there is no obvious motive, no obvious reason for Justin Blake to be in the Arboretum. Many question the guilt of the convenient scapegoat and Sheridan works hard to prove his innocence. Tensions are high and Sheridan's sleuthing is more dangerous. Is it time for those self-defense classes or too late?

"The story line was not predicable, taking a few unexpected turns as the mystery unfolded."

"I just couldn't put this one down. I was hooked from the first chapter."

In MURDER AT THE GRILL, Sheridan once again finds herself trying to prove someone is innocent. This time it's her favorite waitress at the family owned restaurant. As Sheridan works to unravel the family secrets, the family closes ranks. Not easily stopped, Sheridan finds herself in dangerous situations.

"Enjoyable mystery that makes sense."

"The characters are complex, the plots hold my interest, and the writing style is enjoyable."

"Readers of both cozy mysteries and romantic suspense will find MURDER AT THE GRILL very appealing."

In Book 4, MURDER IN THE THEATER:  It’d be the season to be jolly if only someone hadn’t set the stage for murder. When a student is arrested for the crime, Professor Sheridan Hendley is cast in the role of amateur sleuth. Tensions run high, friendships are strained, and the college administration is beginning to panic. As the plot thickens Sheridan is yet again drawn deeper into danger. Will she find the truth before the final curtain call?

“This series is a solid murder mystery series, however, the gentle romances that have bloomed within its tales are enjoyable and equally attractive to the cozy genre reader.”

“Finding the murderer of a man reviled by all may be one tough assignment and Marty is too close to the case to be much help. The investigation competes with family stress as Thanksgiving nears. I love that Sheridan's personal life as well as her job flow through the investigation helping to maintain a balance for the reader and greater insight into our protagonist.”

Book 5, A MURDER AND A WEDDING, is the last in the series.  Solving a murder wasn't on the wedding planner's checklist. With so many changes in her life, sleuthing is the last thing on the mind of Cold Creek College’s amateur sleuth. That is until the victim is the manager of the perfect wedding venue.
When Sheridan visits Hidden Oaks, she senses there is more underfoot than meets the eye. Can she put the pieces together and have her wedding, too?

“Easy read with not a too complicated plot, but just enough to keep you interested. Also a bit of romance…”

“I really enjoyed Murder and a Wedding. … Lots of plot twists as our professor prepares to leave her college and move to a new town with her soon to be husband. Very entertaining.”
